"Schewels, on the southeast corner of 12th and Main Streets, in the 1940's. Digitally restored photo; original from the archives of The News & Advance. The Schewels web site advises that Elias Schewel began his business in 1897 selling picture frames, chair bottoms, and other small furniture items from a horse-drawn wagon. Schewels incorporated in 1917, and the location seen here was the business's first permanent location." - A Visual History of Lynchburg, Virginia CH does not own this photo.
